Call for Art Inspired by Poetry

In celebration of poetry and art and the visit of Wisconsin Poet Laureate Karla Huston. 

Create an artistic expression by September 1 from one of three poems to be selected for a juried exhibit:

  • Poem 1: Somewhere Everything Old is Dying by Karla Huston, Poet Laureate
  • Poem 2: Theory of Lipstick by Karla Huston
  • Poem 3: Tough Like the Tansy by Howard Paap, Poet Laureate of Bayfield

September 16-29:

Poetry-Inspired Art Exhibit

The Washburn Cultural Center will present the Poetry Inspired Art exhibition - a display of art inspired by the poetry of Wisconsin poet laureates Karla Huston and Howard Paap.


September 29-30:

Visit of Wisconsin Poet Laureate

Join Karla Huston, Wisconsin Poet Laureate for 2017-2018, for a community celebration of poetry and the arts. Huston's poems explore a range of ideas and issues and find their roots in the stories we tell, those memories which define us a human.  • View schedule of events

  • A reception and poetry reading is scheduled for 6-9 pm, September 29 at the Washburn Cultural Center.
  • On September 30 at 10 a.m. join Karla Hudson for a poetry workshop at the Bayfield Carnegie Library.
