Bayfield Carnegie Library Will Be Closed Starting March 18th Until At Least April 6th

Bayfield Carnegie Public Library Response to COVID-19

We have made the very difficult decision to close the library starting March 18 in response to Governor Ever's call for statewide school closing.

Our goal is to keep library staff and patrons safe and to mitigate the occurrence of unnecessary exposure and spread of the virus.

All programs and meetings scheduled are also cancelled from March 18 until at least April 6, when the school district opens again—which is anticipated to be April 6.

Here is what we have planned:

  • The library will NOT be open to the public.

  • We will have staff on hand working to get library materials to our patrons however we can, managing online orders and creating “curbside” and at-the-door pickups.

  • We will also be working with CORE to get materials to patrons who are needing to self-isolate.

  • Now is a good time to access our digital materials using the Libby app

  • As of late afternoon on March 16, the state has suspended all interlibrary loan services. But we will be able to fill holds at our library for our community. We will create times of the day for picking up those materials, which will be announced on our web site soon.

  • If you have questions about accessing the digital collection or wish to request items for pick up, Librarians will be available to answer the phone during our regular hours at 715-779-3953 or by email:  bnelson@bayfieldlibrary.org.

  • Library materials returned during this time will not be processed immediately, however any late fees will be waived. Please consider keeping library items at home until the library reopens.
