The Bayfield Carnegie Library has had five Starry Sky Lampposts installed around the library. We hope this will improve the environment for the bats, birds, and essential insects. We have completed this project without using any budgeted funds, and we thank you all for supporting our fund raising efforts.

Read MoreBayfield Carnegie Library will be hosting a special event in honor of the historical building’s 120th anniversary. The January Jubilee will be held on Saturday, January 13th, from 5-7 pm at the library in Bayfield. Tickets are $25 each, or two for $40. A limited number of tickets (100) are available, so purchasing in advance is recommended. Proceeds will benefit the ongoing needs of maintaining and restoring the building and adjacent grounds, including lamp posts, tuckpointing, and retaining wall.
The celebratory event includes live acoustic music; appetizers by Chef Lars; wine, beer, and alcohol-free beverages; a silent auction including items donated by local businesses; and interactive library-associated historical characters Andrew Carnegie, Henry Wildhagen, Winnie Robinson, Eleanor Knight, Carl Larson, and Hope Atkinson.

Read MoreThe Library encourages poets 18 and over, living within 10 miles of the City of Bayfield, to apply. Preference is given to year-round Bayfield area residents, including Red Cliff and the Towns of Russell and Bayfield. Summer residents are eligible. We are looking for poets who have shown or demonstrated a passion for poetry, including but not limited to publication in a book, journal or anthology—on paper or online. Live events are included. We are looking for poets prepared to bring their poems and projects to life in our community. We hope to engage the community, students and local writers in our Poet Laureate’s poems, events and projects.

Read MoreThe Bayfield Carnegie Library Presents: Dasha Kelly Hamilton, Wisconsin Poet Laureate, on Wednesday April 27th at 6 pm with a poetry writing workshop, “A Line Meant” and again on Thursday, April 28th at 6 pm at the Lakeside Pavilion for “A Reading with Dasha” The workshop is limited to the first 30 people who call and reserve a place. All are encouraged to attend the program at the Pavilion. Both programs are offered at no cost.
